Posted on April 2, 2010April 4, 2010 by OD

JBoss AS 5 Development is a new book from Packt which helps developers create and secure their Java applications on the JBoss application server. Written by software architect Francesco Marchioni, this book teaches users how to develop, configure and deploy a complete Java EE application using JBoss AS.

JBoss Application Server is the most commonly used Java application server and is a Java EE certified platform for developing and deploying enterprise Java applications, Web applications and Portals. This book is a walk through the basics of JBoss AS such as installation of core components, JBoss Tools and plug-ins, along with covering advanced topics like developing applications with JBoss Messaging service, JBoss and Hibernate , JBoss web services, clustered applications etc.

Developers will learn to install a suitable environment for developing enterprise applications on JBoss AS and then customize each service for optimal usage. They will also learn to design Enterprise applications using Eclipse and JBoss plug-ins and learn how to enable distributed communication using the new JMS Provider: JBoss Messaging service.

This book will help users integrate Hibernate applications into the application server architecture, and see how they can store and retrieve objects using Hibernate. It also explains the theory of clustering and how to develop a Clustered Application along with secure their applications using JBoss security framework.

Java architects, developers and JBoss administrators working on JBoss application servers will find this book interesting and useful. This book is out now and available from Packt. You can read more about this book here: www.packtpub.com/jboss-as-5-development/book

Francesco is a software architect currently working for an Italian company based in Rome. He took his first steps in Java in 1997 and joined the JBoss Community a few years later when the application server was running the release 2.X.

He has spent many years as a software consultant; however, in the past 5 years he has started authoring technical articles for OReilly Media and running an IT portal focused on JBoss products http://www.mastertheboss.com.
